Questions
The questions worth asking first.
Including the two most firms in this business would rather you didn't ask: how we're paid, and what we can't promise.

About working with us
What exactly does Sarvam Associates do?
Two things, for the same clients. We are a chartered accountancy practice handling direct tax, GST, audit and compliance. We are also an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor and an authorised distribution partner of Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd, through which we help clients invest. The point of doing both is that your tax position and your investments get considered together rather than by two people who never speak.
Are you an investment adviser or a distributor?
A distributor. We are an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor and an authorised distribution partner for the investment products shown on this site. We do not hold a SEBI Investment Adviser registration. The distinction matters: as a distributor we are compensated by the product manufacturers through commission, not by you through an advisory fee.
How are you paid?
Through distribution commission paid by product manufacturers, which is built into the product rather than billed to you separately. This is standard for a distributor, and it is worth understanding, because it means we have a commercial relationship with the manufacturers whose products we recommend. Ask us what we earn on anything we suggest and we will tell you.
What is Nuvama's role, and what is yours?
Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd manufactures and issues the investment products — they run the strategies and make the investment decisions. Sarvam Associates is their authorised distribution partner: we assess whether a product suits you, handle onboarding and paperwork, and manage your relationship and reviews. We do not manage any portfolio and we do not issue any product.
Do I need a large amount to start?
No. A SIP starts at ₹500 a month and a lump-sum mutual fund investment at ₹1,000. Some products do carry high regulatory minimums that cannot be waived — PMS requires ₹50,00,000 and AIFs ₹1,00,00,000, both set by SEBI rather than by us.
Can you guarantee returns?
No, and neither can anyone else offering market-linked products. Every investment shown on this site carries risk, including the possibility of losing money. Where a product includes a capital protection feature, that feature depends on the issuer meeting its obligations and is not a guarantee. Any figures described as indicative are illustrations of how a product is designed to behave, not promises of what you will receive.
Do you take custody of my money?
No. Investments are made in your own name, into accounts and folios that belong to you. In a PMS, shares are held in your own demat account. We facilitate and administer; we never hold your funds.
What happens in the free consultation?
Fifteen minutes on a call. We ask about your goals, your timeline, and what you already hold. You will get an honest view of whether we can add anything — including being told that your current arrangement is fine and you do not need us. There is no obligation and nothing is sold on that call.
I already invest elsewhere. Is it worth talking?
Often yes, particularly if nobody has looked at your portfolio and your tax position at the same time. We are just as likely to tell you to leave things alone as to change them.
Where are you based?
Bhandup (West), Mumbai. We meet clients in person at the office, and we work with clients across Mumbai remotely. Onboarding is digital, with a real person checking every step.

Product-specific questions
Systematic Investment Plan
What happens if I miss a month?
Nothing punitive. The bank may levy a mandate-failure charge, but the SIP itself continues and the missed instalment is simply not invested. Repeated misses will affect your goal, so tell us early if the amount needs reducing.
Can I stop or change the amount later?
Yes. Open-ended SIPs can be paused, increased, reduced or stopped at any time without penalty from the fund. ELSS funds are the exception — each instalment is locked in for three years from its own investment date.
Is a SIP safer than investing a lump sum?
It spreads your entry across many price points, which reduces the risk of investing everything at a peak. It does not make the underlying fund any less volatile. A SIP into an equity fund is still an equity investment.
Multicap Growth Strategy
How is PMS actually different from a mutual fund?
In a mutual fund your money is pooled and you own units. In a PMS the shares are bought in your name and sit in your own demat account. You see every holding and every transaction, and your capital gains are computed on your own trades rather than shared across a pool.
Why is the minimum ₹50 lakh?
It is a SEBI regulatory minimum for Portfolio Management Services, not a figure set by us or by the manufacturer. It cannot be waived or reduced.
Is PMS riskier than a mutual fund?
Generally yes. A high-conviction PMS holds far fewer stocks than a diversified equity fund, so both gains and losses are amplified. It should be considered as an addition to a diversified portfolio, not a replacement for one.
What does Sarvam do, and what does the manufacturer do?
The strategy is managed by the product manufacturer's investment team — they make every buy and sell decision. Sarvam Associates is the authorised distribution partner: we assess suitability, handle onboarding, and manage your relationship and reviews. We do not manage the portfolio.
Structured Fixed Income & MLDs
Does 100% base capital protection mean my money is safe?
It means the structure is designed to return your principal at maturity even if the underlying reference performs poorly. It does not protect you if the issuer fails to pay. Protection is a feature of the structure and depends on issuer credit — it is not a guarantee and it is not the same as a deposit.
Where does the 8.5–12% figure come from?
It is an indicative range describing how these structures are designed to behave across different outcomes. It is not a forecast, not a promise, and not a range you should expect to receive. Actual returns depend on the underlying reference and could be lower, including zero.
